The Challenges and Treatment Options for Young Adults Today

The Challenges and Treatment Options for Young Adults Today

What do you do when your young adult has issues with anxiety, depression, or addiction, and they’re no longer moving forward and making progress in their life?

And if you have a question you’d like me to address on this podcast, don’t be shy, we’ll all benefit from your question so come on over to my website, neildbrown.com click on either For Families or For Treatment Programs, then click on any podcast and scroll down to the end where it says “submit your question” and enter it there and why not do it today.  And while you’re there, download a free copy of my Parental Burnout Recovery Guide.

Today we’re talking with my colleague Dr. Mark Burdick,  drburdick.com

Dr. Burdick is an internationally renowned psychologist and he has practices in the US, UK, and EU. Dr Burdick is a placement specialist. He works with families with adolescents and young adults who are at risk emotionally and behaviorally and are not able to move forward productively in their lives. I need to tell you that Dr. Burdick is amazing at connecting with young people and finding them the absolutely best resources to support them in getting back on a healthy sustainable life path.

In this discussion Neil and Mark Burdick discuss:

1) The developmental tasks of young adulthood.  What needs to be accomplished during this important life stage?

2) The challenges facing young adults today that have developed in the last few years and the impact this has had on young adults.

3) What strategies should parents be using in anticipation of these challenges?  How do parents build a high quality launching pad?

4) When young adults are not launching well, what resources are available to parents and youth?

Thanks for tuning in today everyone and special thanks to Dr. Burdick for joining us.  If you are a therapist who works in a behavioral health treatment program, and would like to talk with me about improving outcomes in your program, come on over to my website neildbrown.com and shoot me an email or give me a call.  I’ll be happy to talk with you.

And please, take care of yourselves; you need it, you deserve it, you’re worth it.  Bye for now.
