Staying Connected to Your Teenager
Does it feel like your teenager is avoiding you? This is a common situation that many parents face. Teenagers often report that their parents are boring, and hold up in their rooms wanting privacy and or time with their peers. Yet, as parents we want to know that our kids are growing and developing in healthy ways and need to be sure that their private activity is not destructive.
In episode 16 of Healthy Family Connections, Neil takes a question from a mom wondering what’s the true meaning her son’s complaints and how can she help:
“My 15 year old son hates being home and when he is home, he stays in his bedroom. He says we are boring. What does he really mean by that and how I can I create more ‘fun’?” – Lisa from Aptos, California
